But the Wanderers chief wouldn't break the bank to take the French international to the Reebok Stadium.
Saha appears to have played his last game for United after another campaign spent predominantly on the treatment table or the bench.
Bolton badly need to boost their firepower and Megson has confirmed he's in the market for a proven goal scorer.
When fit, Saha fits the bill and the 29-year-old won't be short of suitors should Sir Alex Ferguson make him surplus to requirements. Bolton have money in the bank after the sale of Nicolas Anelka during the transfer window.
And owner Eddie Davis has promised to make more available to avoid any repeat of Bolton's battle to avoid relegation.
Tracking
Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is also thought to be tracking Saha whose 32 goals in 2000-2001 helped the Cottagers into the Premier League and orchestrated a move to United.
Bolton have also been linked with St Etienne marksman Bafetimbi Gomis and Toulouse marksman, Johan Elmander.
Fulham and Bolton are also contenders for the signature of Reading livewire, James Harper.
West Ham, Harper's first pro club, and Middlesbrough are thought to be keeping tabs on the 27-year-old.
Wanderers do lack pace in the side and the Chelmsford born veteran of 305 appearances for the Royals, has plenty to burn.
Greek Under 21 international Thanassis Papazoglu is another name in the frame as a Bolton transfer possible.
The 20-year-old currently plays for Aris Salonika while Newcastle and Serie A clubs have been mentioned as potential buyers.
And to complete the guessing game, Ecuador international, Carlos Tenorio, is ready to end his stint in Qatar for the Premier League. Bolton, Wigan and Villa have been alerted. Tweet

Bolton!? Poor Saha. He kept getting injured in training with us, what chance has he at Bolton? Do any of their players even know how to pull out of a tackle?
Oh please. This is ideal for Saha, he wont have to make too much effort as its not far away. Please take him.
I will miss him, he is class!
If we can get anyone to pay any decent money for this guy, we absolutely have to ship him off.
Fergie has put to much faith in him before, and he has never justified it.
He was supposed to take over from Ruud as our out and out goal scoring machine, but we haven't had a goal machine since Ruud left. Get rid of Saha, even for no money and buy David Villa!!!!!!!!
Michio county louth, my personal highlight of last season was Davies v Evra at the reebok, priceless.
He is no good to us in the treatment room every week. SELL.
Shame it didn't work out for
Louis. What a great player he is, that left foot shot from out side the box is terrific, as well as his size
to hold up the ball, making runs at the defense. He is the type of player we need and if he only stayed healthy
we wouldn't be talking about
off loading him to Notlob.
Up the Reds,
If Bolton players don't pull out of tackles and are so dirty why did they have no players sent off last season. We're hard but fair not a bunch of soft cheating whingers and divers.Dioufy excepted!
United have signed 16 year old Davide Petrucci of AS Roma. He is a striker who has been compared to Totti. Excellent news - I just hope he doesn't end up like Rossi and Pique!
I feel sorry for Saha but getting injured so often is just a joke. I like Louis. But if they are going to offer us hardly any money for him for injury reasons i wouldnt accept it i-d keep him and hope he has better luck with injuries
His health could improve with the pressure off. If he stays at OT he will always be just one more injury away from complete ridicule.
We wont get any money for him but he needs a change of scene and luck.
Djngo, do you come from the planet djngo?
in the words of Harry enfield
"you dont want to do that!!"
