Samuel is likely to join Villa old boys, Gary Cahill and Gavin McCann, in the Wanderers' ranks as Gary Megson attempts to plot a first domestic win since beating Reading 2-0 on February 2.
The former England Under- 21 defender started a top flight game against Arsenal last Saturday for the first time since December 29.
And despite harshly credited with an own goal on his 27th birthday that secured the Gunners' smash-and-grab victory, he hopes to retain his place.
"I've got loads of good memories of Villa Park where I spent most of my career," said Samuel.
"It will be something special but I'm with Bolton now and we've got a massive job to do.
"I'm not sure how the fans will react to me, but I'll just be concentrating on getting three points if I'm involved."
Despite a lack of regular first team football, Samuel says he doesn't regret his move to the Reebok.
"If the manager chooses to play me, I'm sure I will show him what I can do," said the former West Ham youngster, initially sounded out by Sam Allardyce but eventually signed by Sammy Lee.
"I know what I am capable of. I think I've done OK when I've come in. The more you play the more confident you become.
"It's hard sometimes to come in for the odd game and then be dragged out.
"We got nervous and edgy against Arsenal and ended up losing a game we should never have done. The mood around the place is positive but I won't lie, the word relegation has been mentioned.
"We can't ignore it. We need to be aware of where we are in the table and we need to make sure we do something about it."
Skipper Kevin Nolan serves the second game of his suspension while Nicky Hunt (shoulder), Ricardo Gardner (ribs) and Jussi Jaaskelainen (back) are also missing.
