Bolton on edge

GARY Megson wants points rather than positives from Bolton's next seven performances.

The Wanderers edged last Saturday's match against City but failed to secure their first league victory in six games.

"At this stage of the season it is all about getting three points," he insisted. "It does not matter how you get them."

Bolton have got to start scoring in order to turn draws and defeats into victories.

And Megson acknowledged: "When you are on top and don't take your chances, you get edgy and maybe a bit gung-ho.

Breakaway

"You want to put things right straight away rather than taking your time. And when you haven't scored you are always liable to get a breakaway against you."

Wanderers face Arsenal at the Reebok on Saturday and, despite their own poor results, the Londoners start as favourites.

However, Megson said: "Sunderland got a fantastic result against Villa last Saturday.

"So we need to come up with a couple of results that maybe are a surprise to people."

The rumour mill suggests Bolton are keeping tabs on Newcastle full-back Stephen Carr and Leeds United defender Rui Marques.

And Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has hinted Danny Guthrie will return to Liverpool at the end of his season-long loan with Wanderers.
