Nolan's top ten target for Bolton

OPTIMISTIC: Kevin Nolan
BOLTON skipper Kevin Nolan has set his team an ambitious target as they prepare to host the Premier League leaders on Saturday.

Wanderers entertain United while sitting just two places off bottom spot.

However, their optimistic captain said: "I certainly believe we'll be in the top ten come the end of the season."

That would be a major recovery for Bolton who have won one league match all season.

But the Trotters have lost just once in five games since Gary Megson arrived at the Reebok.

However, four of those matches have ended in draws, leaving Megson searching for his first victory.

And Nolan feels those results have lifted team spirit.

"I can see what's been going on over the last couple of weeks and I've seen the quality of players we have here," he insisted. "There is a long way to go and I know I am being optimistic.

"But our confidence is back, and once we get a few wins I really believe we'll be in the top 10 later in the season."

Many of Bolton's stars return from international duty today, including Greek midfielder Stelios.

The popular Euro 2004 winner has been linked with a £1million move to Reading.

Stelios rejected the chance to join Sheffield United earlier this season because he didn't want to drop into the Championship.

Former Wanderers midfielder and ex-City boss Peter Reid has rejected a chance to become coach of Iran.

"It's international football and they've got some decent players around Europe," said Reid. "Obviously I know Andranik (Teimourian) at Bolton and I like (Javad) Nekounam at Osasuna."

However, despite being tempted Reid rejected the chance of a three-year contract.
