GARY Megson has been warned he has a fight on his hands after being appointed manager of Bolton Wanderers.
The former West Brom and Nottingham Forest boss signed a two and half year deal at the Reebok today after holding talks with chairman Phil Gartside.
And the Wanderers supremo insisted Megson has his work cut out if he is to steer Bolton to safety.
"We feel Gary is the right man to take Bolton Wanderers forward," said Gartside.
"I have paid particular attention to his career and he has demonstrated to me that he is prepared to roll his sleeves up and has the right termperament for a battle, which this season is undoubtedly going to be."
Poor
Megson replaces Sammy Lee, who was sacked after a poor start to the season, which left Wanderers at the foot of the Premiership.
Bolton's approach prompted the former Manchester City midfielder to walk out on Leicester after only six weeks in the job.
He has already proved to be an unpopular choice among Trotters fans, who have voiced their disapproval.
And despite twice leading West Brom to the Premiership, his record in the top flight is hardly likely to breed confidence, having won only seven of 48 games.
But Gartside insists Megson will have the full backing of everyone at the club.
"We have made decisive decisions over the past few weeks and this is one of them," he said. "It is not about me, Gary Megson or any other individual - it is all about Bolton Wanderers surviving in the Premier League.
"We have to be fully-focused on the task ahead to make sure we achieve immediate success.
"I have spoken to the staff and the players and we are all committed to get behind Gary and turn our fortunes around."
Megson will watch tonight's UEFA Cup clash with Braga and take charge for the first time when Bolton take on Aston Villa on Sunday.

I think Gary Megson needs more than luck to get Bolton Wanderers out of the mess they find themseleves in at this time in the relegation zone.
I hope I'm wrong and Bolton can climb up the table, but to be perfectly blunt I think they are doomed now...

Megson is a bad appointment but you don't need anyone to tell you that. One crumb is talk to a West Brom fan - they won't slag him off - they were going nowhere and he got them in the Premiership - to go down he had to get them there first remember.
I hope you stay up but failing that you get someone else in and come back soon
Good Luck
