NICOLAS Anelka has ended speculation about his future by signing a new four-year contract with Bolton.
The highly-rated France striker had indicated he might be prepared to leave the Reebok Stadium.
However, with the transfer window due to close tomorrow he has put pen to paper on a new improved deal until the end of the 2011 season.
Wanderers boss Sammy Lee said: "It is a fantastic boost for the club and our supporters that Nicolas has agreed to stay with us . W e have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to get him to commit his long-term future to us.
"Nicolas is one of the world’s best strikers and I am immensely proud and happy that he has shown such commitment to the club.
"It’s also a boost for the dressing room, because a team never wants to lose anybody of Nicolas’s stature and presence.
Ambition
"T his shows our ambition to be among the top club s, not just in this country but across the world of football. Nicolas is one of the most sought after strikers in the world and I am delighted that he will continue to wear the Bolton Wanderers shirt."
Despite the speculation linked him with United and Portsmouth, Anelks insisted he was happy to stay put.
"I seem to have been linked with every club in the country of late, but my heart is with Bolton," said the Frenchman.
"I am very happy with my form, the club and the manager, so signing a new contract was not a difficult decision.
"Hopefully we will prosper together because I would not have remained at Bolton if I’d thought we could not win trophies."
The 28-year-old striker signed a lucrative four-year deal when he joined Wanderers from Turkish club Fenerbahce for a club record £8million a year ago, and during that time has netted 14 goals in 39 appearances.

LOSER!
what a dink dank do, think I'll treat meself to some tripe for me tea tonight!
This is great news for all Bolton fans.
Recently Anelka has been linked with a host of clubs. A lot of the speculation has been fired up by the media who seem to want to fill in the spaces of the newsprint.
The daily mirror has been one of the worst offenders. For weeks they have linked Anelka with various clubs. It seems to me to be journalism on the cheap. Why research a story when you can print whatever you want and not name any source?
Well it's over now and Bolton fans can sleep in their beds in the knowledge that they have a truly world class striker who has committed his immediate future to them.
Hands off United and City. If you want him give us £12m. Ha ha ha!
sour grapes wayne.???
great news for the whites.
sorry losers.
i thought that anelka wanted champions league football...obviously he has decided that he just wants to be among the 10-15 best in this league. at last anelka is showing commitment, and that is nice to see.
Didn't get the right offer then ?
lost ambition perhaps?
You're right blueinspain the rumour is the only offer he got was from Citeh and as he has no respect for the blues he's committed to a club that can look after him properly!!!!
Sour grapes?
Ha ha ha............
Fergie would never of signed him, everywhere his has been he has caused trouble!
A good footballer, i'll give you that, but team morale must be low with a person like him around? Le Sulk!
Anelka has not been one scrap of bother whilst he has been at Bolton.
I suppose it makes you sad losers feel better making up these excusses now that he will not be joining you.
First offer over 10 mill Gartside would have dropped him off personally, and you Yonners know it!!
Good luck playing out what's left of the best years of your career in front of a disinterested 21,000,Nicolas..
BWFC small club, big ideas, dreams fulfilled. Another season waiting around for European football at the council house. The blues jealous, course not???
