The 20-year-old Liverpool midfielder will sign a season-long loan deal at the Reebok when he returns from holiday.
But Guthrie spent 10 weeks with the Championship side and Burley said: "Danny did very well for us.
"It shows that he improved with us and now has a chance in the Premiership.
"He is a smashing lad and I am pleased for him. I am sure he will do well for Bolton."
Blackley-born Hasney Aljofree has teamed-up again with former boss Paul Sturrock.
The former Bolton youngster has signed a three-year contract with Swindon Town.
Aljofree, 28, who had a loan spell at Oldham last season, was previously with Sturrock at Plymouth and Dundee United.
"He is a good footballer and reads the game very, very well," said Sturrock.
"Hasney wanted a new challenge and he knows what he is coming into here."
Wanderers have been linked with Charlton's Luke Young and Spaniard Francisco Pavon.
