Pedersen hoping to stay in England

Henrik Pedersen
FORMER Bolton favourite Michael Johansen is busy trying to find another English club for ex-Wanderers striker Henrik Pedersen.

And Johansen also revealed how he'd like to unearth some more Danish players for the UEFA Cup contenders.

Pedersen left the Reebok Stadium last month after failing to secure a new contract.

Indeed, the marksman accused ex-Bolton boss Sam Allardyce of going back on a "gentleman's agreement."

It was thought Pedersen would return to Denmark.

However, Johansen told M.E.N Sport last night: "Henrik would like to stay in England for a couple more years.

"And there has been interest from a number of clubs," he confirmed.

"He is over what happened at Bolton and just looking forward to a new future."

Linked

Wigan were linked with Pedersen last season but Johansen refused to divulge possible future employers.

"There has been interest from the Premiership but mainly from Championship sides," he said.

Pedersen, nicknamed `the Hammer', joined Bolton from Silkeborg in 2001 for £650,000 and was the last of Bolton's links with Denmark that saw the likes of Johansen, Per Frandsen, Bo Hansen and Claus Jensen join the club.

"It's a high level Bolton play at now," said Johansen. Now and again we recommend some of our best players.

"And it would be great if we could get some Danish players at the club again."

Pedersen's career with Wanderers stalled last season because of injury.

And that was one of the reasons why Allardyce didn't offer him a new contract.

"I am not ruling out a return to Denmark, but I still hope to stay in England," Pedersen said last night.
