Kent spinner dies

FORMER Kent spinner Richard Davis has died at the age of 37 after suffering from a brain tumour.

The slow left-arm bowler took 421 first-class wickets for the county in eight years from 1986-1993 before moving to Warwickshire and then Gloucestershire.

He retired from first-class cricket in 1997 to become cricket development officer for Greater London.

He spent a year at Sussex as a one-day player and made fleeting appearances for Leicestershire, as well as spending 2001 as Berkshire player-coach.
