LANCASHIRE pace ace James Anderson is confident England can bounce back well from their Ashes debacle and perform in their winter one-dayers.
England go straight into a month-long tri-series with Australia and New Zealand, starting on Friday, before heading to the Caribbean for the World Cup.
And the 24-year-old Burnley Express believes his team-mates have the character to put the events of the last two months behind them and have a successful Commonwealth Bank series.
"As a group, we haven't really done ourselves justice on this trip, and we are going to have to put it all behind us." he said.
"The one-dayers are something to look forward to. Not just the one-day series here, but also the World Cup is on the horizon.
"Each and every World Cup that comes round is a big aim for any side. We want to have a good series here to take some momentum forward.
"If we can do that, we will be a tough side to play against. We have just got to make sure we prepare properly in the lead up to it." Despite the fact Anderson has not had his best tour form wise - he is at least back to full fitness again after six months out due to a stress fracture of the back.
Fitness
"Not once, at any stage in my recovery, did I ever think about making the Ashes squad. All I was ever concerned about was trying to make sure that I got myself back to full fitness. I'm there now," he said.
"I've been a bit disappointed in the two Tests I've played. I didn't actually think I bowled that badly, I felt pretty good, and I actually think the figures were a bit worse than I bowled."
Anderson played two games for Lancashire before playing in the ICC Champions Trophy in India in October.
One of those Red Rose games was the final County Championship game of the season at Hampshire's Rose Bowl when he was restricted to 12 overs per innings.
"With us having to win that game to win the title, I always thought that the 12 over thing would definitely rule me out. I was a bit surprised with the restrictions, but it all fizzled out anyway," said Anderson. "It's not something that I look back on now - it's gone, and I have to look forward to other things. Anderson is almost certain to be rested by the ECB when the domestic season starts in April, so it could be a while before Lancashire fans see him in county action at Old Trafford.
But when he does pull the Lancashire shirt on, he is sure that everything will be geared towards trophies in the cabinet.
"We would have had a lot better chance last year if we had a lot less rain," said Anderson. "But this year we have a couple of great overseas players to add to the set of lads we had last year. Hopefully that will be the finishing touch we need to win the league."
Do you think England will bounce back in the one-dayers? Have your say.
