WE face a massive game against Sussex next week. There is still a lot of cricket to be played this season, but this match could be the cornerstone of our bid to win the County Championship.
If we win at Liverpool then it will give us a huge boost and get us back in the race after last week's wash-out against Notts.
But if we lose, Sussex will pull out quite a big lead. So a positive result is vital.
Mushtaq Ahmed and Naved-ul-Hasan have been awesome for Sussex. They have taken 63 wickets between them this season, and claimed 19 of the 20 victims in their two-day demolition of Durham.
Spin
I haven't got a specific plan on how to face them. I am a pretty good player of spin, and I just try to play my own game against whoever is bowling whether it be Mushtaq, Warney or Murali.
Talking of Murali, my old Lancashire team-mate showed again this week against England what a great bowler he is. I would love to play alongside him again at Lancs. But, if I had the choice, I would have to go for Warney out of the two. Well, he is a fellow Aussie!
Warney is such an awesome competitor, as he showed in the Ashes last year.
Plus, I think it is always better to have a leg-spinner in your team than an off-spinner. But wouldn't it be great to have them both at Old Trafford!
I will be talking in the next few weeks about my future here. I am in the second year of my two-year deal and would love to come back. I enjoy playing for Lancs and like living in Manchester, but I don't yet know the club's plans for next season.
