Brad's Lancs pledge

LANCASHIRE new boy Brad Hodge cracked his maiden domestic century of the Australian summer this week and promised to score more at Old Trafford next year.

Man-of-the-match Hodge plundered 108 for his native Victoria against Tasmania in the one-day ING Cup in Melbourne in front of national selectors David Boon and Andrew Hilditch.

It is the highlight of what has so far been a disappointing summer for the former Leicestershire captain.

Hodge has struggled to recapture the form that earned him a place in the Australian squad for the recent tour of India and is still waiting to make his Test debut.

In the four-day Pura Cup - the Australian equivalent of the County Championship - he averages 35.00 from two matches, and after last Sunday 46.75 in four one-day ING Cup matches.

But the 30-year-old run-machine is confident he has now turned the corner.

"I back myself to score 1,500 runs for Lancashire next year," Hodge said.

"Signing for Lancashire is a dream move for me and I want everyone at Old Trafford to know that I am going there to make a lot of runs for the team.

"My aim is to make a quick impact for Lancashire and to score at a run-a-ball in one-day cricket and make big scores in the County Championship.

"I want to help Lancashire win promotion and a one-day trophy next year. I will not be satisfied unless I score a big volume of runs in all competitions."
