Local cricket: Central Lancashire League

THE Central Lancashire League is to expand to 16 teams in 2006.

Monton and Weaste will join the league from the Manchester Association next season after clubs voted to increase numbers to 16 next year, but the shock resignation of Stand has left the CLL one short for the 2005 campaign.

But the clubs this week again voted for a move to 16 clubs, and the CLL are now accepting applications for the 2006 campaign.

Clubs wishing to join should apply to the league secretary Alan Wright, Walthams, Valley Road, Penwortham, Preston PR1 9XP.

Norden, who are 13 points clear at the top, face Radcliffe tomorrow but have a free date on Sunday. So Unsworth have the chance to close the gap as they play Rochdale and Heywood.

Tomorrow: Oldham v Middleton, Rochdale v Unsworth, Heywood v Werneth, Norden v Radcliffe, Royton v Walsden, Ashton v Crompton, Stand v Milnrow.

Sunday: Crompton v Oldham, Milnrow v Rochdale, Middleton v Littleborough, Unsworth v Heywood, Werneth v Royton, Radcliffe v Ashton, Walsden v Stand.
