Local cricket: Lancashire County League

DENTON St Lawrence will be hoping Dave Morrell can repeat last weekend's stunning display as they bid to close the gap at the top of the Lancashire County League.

Morrell took a staggering 9-33 as DSL comfortably disposed of Longsight to cut Prestwich's lead to nine points.

They travel to Roe Green tomorrow and then entertain Irlam on Sunday, while Prestwich are away at Irlam tomorrow and then face a tough game at home to fourth-placed Woodhouses on Sunday. Dukinfield will be hoping to continue their march up the table with victories over Woodbank and Roe Green.

Greg Harwick's side made light work on Woodhouses last weekend and are dark horses to scoop the title they last won in 2001.

Tomorrow: x Denton West v Cheetham Hill, Flowery Field v Thornham, Irlam Hornets v Prestwich, Longsight v Glossop, Roe Green v Denton St Lawrence, Woodbank v Dukinfield, Woodhouses v Denton. Sunday: Cheetham Hill v Woodbank, Denton v Longsight, Denton St Lawrence v Irlam, Dukinfield v Roe Green, Glossop v Flowery Field, Prestwich v Woodhouses, Thornham v Denton West.
