Local cricket: Liverpool competition

DAVE Cunliffe may have reached the veteran stages in cricket terms but he's still winning matches in the Littlewoods Gaming Liverpool Competition division one.

After four wins in a row, Wigan looked to be heading for trouble as Formby moved to 95-2 chasing the home side's 177-9 declared, Mike Parlane 57.

But Dave turned the game on its head, taking 7-43 with his off-spinners as Formby were bowled out for 127.

SS Das followed up last weekend's double century with 62 as Newton-le-Willows continued their rise up the table with a 32-run win over Haydock.

Newton were bowled out for 192, Mike Walkden scoring 49.
