The club's general committee have voted to make Mike Watkinson director of cricket and are now on the hunt for a top coach to take charge of the senior squad.
And asked if he would like to see someone with Lancashire connections in the role, new skipper Chapple said: "Yes, I would. If he is the right man for the job - that's the most important thing.
"If he is from Lancashire then great, but the most important thing is that we are successful on the field."
One candidate could be former Australia coach Geoff Marsh, who has applied for the cricket manager's role at Surrey along with former Sussex captain Chris Adams.
Former Pakistan coach Geoff Lawson, who played one match for Lancashire in 1979 and had a spell in the Lancashire League, may also be interested.
Turnover
"You can't help but think which coaches are out there and who might be interested," said Chapple.
"It is not quite like football where the turnover of coaches is quick. And, if I am honest, I would struggle to know who the good coaches are out there, who are without work at the moment or who are interested in coming to England or moving to Lancashire.
"It is for the club to put some work in and find out who the candidates are.
"But the new coach needs to be in place as soon as is practical and possible."
Watkinson, who has been cricket manager for seven years, takes up his new role immediately and will means he oversees all levels of cricket in the county.
Coaching
"It doesn't mean I will be trading the tracksuit for a business suit, as I will still be coaching and continuing to do many of the things I've done before but on a more occasional basis, and this includes providing as much support as I can to the new first team coach," said Watkinson.
It will be 10 years next year since Lancashire's last major trophy and 75 since their last outright County Championship.
Some fans have been calling for change in recent years, and already this autumn there is a new captain, groundsman and a coaching restructure.
However, veteran Chapple, who made his debut for the club in 1992, believes there isn't much wrong at Lancashire.
"I have been here for a long time, and even in the past few years we have been so close to success, it is not as if the wheels have been falling off," he said.
"Last year was disappointing even though the players and coaches will point to the fact we won five games and lost two, the same as the year before.
"It is always disappointing when we don't win anything, that's what we have to change.
"I don't see any real problems with the club, we have to work to do everything we can to play good cricket."

Missed a trick, Dominic Cork, competitor and winner, to late now?
Its great to see that Lancs have got the right captain this coming season, He doesn't think there is a lot wrong!! Is it his first season at the club? where has he been for the last few years?
John Abrahams should be top priority, if he was appointed the Cricket director role might work because I dont think he wouldnt stand for any interference from above.
This type of role has come from football where it doesnt work at all, at least they have realised that it is a huge job
Good news Its just been announced Chris Adams has the job at Surrey, that is unless he fails to turn up there as well. He has made a habit of that, first thing he needs to do there is to inject some speed into their attack, especially now one of their one day staff is missing!
