The 20-year-old batsman, who will play for Leigh in the Liverpool Competition next season, was nominated for the scholarship by the Lancashire coaching staff, and is amongst a small group of players selected by an ECB panel to attend the Academy this winter.
During his two-month stay, Brown, who forced his way into the Lancashire first team at the end of last season, will play for a first-grade club.
"Karl is a player we have high hopes for at Lancashire, and he showed his potential towards the end of last season making some valuable contributions in the first team," said cricket manager Mike Watkinson.
"This scholarship offers Karl the chance to learn from one of the best batsmen Australia has produced, whilst continuing to improve his game playing in a tough club competition."
Opportunity
Meanwhile, 15-year-old right-arm leg-spinner Mo Abid has been awarded a two-week scholarship with Shane Warne's ex-coach Terry Jenner at the Cricket Academy in Adelaide.
The Lancashire Under-15 and Under-17 player represented England Under-15s this summer and was picked by Jenner after attending a spin bowling course earlier this year.
Second team coach Gary Yates said: "Having previously attended in a coaching capacity, I know this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for any young wrist-spinner to learn from Shane Warne's former coach and mentor.
"Mo already demonstrates many of the attributes needed to be a successful first-class spinner, but learning from a former international wrist-spinner will provide the mental and tactical insight needed to take his game to the next level."
Lancashire Academy and Under-17s top-order batsman Luke Perry (Farnworth Social Circle CC) has also been selected for the Performance Programme designed for Academy players or those representing their county at age level. Tweet
