LANCASHIRE require another 93 runs to win their County Championship clash with Sussex at Hove.

They needed less than an hour to claim the host’s final four wickets this morning leaving them a victory target of 107, but Stuart Law’s men were left frustrated when light rain delayed the start of their run chase.

They went in at lunch on 14-1, with Lou Vincent having edged Jason Lewry behind in the penultimate over before the break while on five. Paul Horton was seven not out and Mal Loye two, but heavy rain was due on the south coast this afternoon and could scupper Lancashire’s chances of securing just their second County Championship win of the season.

Earlier, Glen Chapple got rid of dangerman Murray Goodwin and Mushtaq Ahmed to finish with 6-58, while Sajid Mahmood ended with 3-51 as he claimed the other two wickets as last season’s champions Sussex added just 22 runs to their overnight score of 223-6.
