SCOTTISH hard man Colin Bain is vowing to exact revenge for his country's failure to reach the World Cup finals - by beating up English boxing's golden boy Amir Khan.
Bain, like millions of other Scots, is dreading the thought that the Auld Enemy might reach the final of the soccer tournament on July 9.
But if that happens he plans to take away some of the joy by becoming the first to blot Khan's professional copybook when he faces the Bolton ace the night before in Cardiff.
"Amir is a great boxer with loads of talent but I'm well up for the fight," said Bain. "And knowing that it's an England v Scotland match-up, televised live to millions of viewers on ITV, will spur me on to a fabulous win for all of Scotland.

"We might not have made it to the World Cup but I will give Scottish fans a reason to party by beating Khan. As a proud Scot it would be a disaster if England got anywhere near the final, but it will be even worse if I lose to Khan, so I won't take a backward step . The Tartan Army may not be shaking up the world in Germany, but I will be when I take on Khan."
The 27-year-old has just one defeat in 11 pro fights, but that sole loss was to the only man he has fought who had more wins than losses on his record - fellow Scot Ricky Burns, who went on to lose in his challenge for Alex Arthur's European super-featherweight title.
The fight will be Bain's first appearance outside Scotland, and the biggest crowd he has experienced, on a six-title fight bill at the Millennium Stadium.
"This is the big one for me and I can make a name for myself," he said.
Khan's last outing was a victory over Hungarian Laszlo Komjathi in Belfast last month.

for me frank warren is without doubt one of the most shrewdest guys in boxing today ,and he would not have allowed amir to fight colin if the scot had a remote chance of beating his investment,so i,ll put my judgement in favour of amir to win going away on points .
You can tell when a whole nation has an inferiority complex can't you?
This fight won't go any way towards ridding that complex.

This fight looks good at first glance, but look closely, every victory Bain has to his name is against an opponent who has lost as many fights as they have won!!! He's never stopped anyone in 11 fights and his last fight was against a guy who'd had one fight and drew it and Bain could only manage a draw with him!!! not to mention he's been very inactive over the last 18 months or so. This fight should be an easy victory for Khan after a questionable performance last time, oh i almost forgot to mention Bain is ranked as a super feather!!!
Colin, im not having a go at you personally, i just feel you dont have a clue what you go on about sometimes.Amir is at a age where he really needs to step up his game and take on tougher opponents to get where he wants to be a world champion.We don't want him to end up like Audley Harrison.I do agree with you that Frank Warren is one of the best if not the best.

for me this is a no win situation for amir ,if he blows bain away early they will say bain's handpicked,if amir wins on points they will say amirs not as good as he thinks he is,a match like this do,s amir no good at all in my eyes,and i like others realy think frank warren should up the class otherwise amirs in danger of going the same way as fraudly harrison,amir has undoubted talents so let us all see him fighting a worthy opponent.
