AMIR Khan is shortlisted for the Newcomer of the Year title at the Laureus World Sports Awards.

Khan is up against five other sports stars who have broken on o the world stage.

A host of stars will be at the glittering awards ceremony in Estoril on May 16, including Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton, Britain's double Olympic champion Kelly Holmes, and boxing great Marvin Hagler.

The winners are selected by the ultimate sports jury - the Laureus World Sports Academy, a unique collection of 40 of the greatest sportsmen and sportswomen of all time.
