MICHAEL Brodie knows he has to take his surprise chance to win a world title when he fights Scott Harrison at the M.E.N. Arena on June 3.
The Mancunian, who has not fought for a year, will take on defending WBO featherweight champion Harrison, fully aware that his top-flight boxing career will be over if he loses.
Brodie, whose last fight saw him lose for a second time to Injin Chi for the vacant WBC featherweight title, admits he has been handed a golden opportunity to become a world champion at last.
He said: "I'm glad that Scott has given me the opportunity to fight for the title. I was surprised to be given the chance but I'm at the top with all the others. It will be the end of me if I get beaten but I can't see me getting beaten. I'm just looking forward to the fight and putting on a good show for my fans."
Glaswegian Harrison - an unconvincing points winner over Colombian Victor Polo in his last bout - will be fighting outside his home city for the first time in four years.
He claims he was only enticed down south by the prospect of fighting in front of a live American television audience in the hope of breaking into the lucrative US fight scene.
He said: "I am probably disappointed that the fight is not in Glasgow.
"If it wasn't for American television, I wouldn't be going down there."
