Khan fallout continues

THE battle for the Amateur Boxing Association light-welterweight title has taken another twist after Amir Khan's withdrawal.

Bolton's Olympic hero withdrew in a row over tickets - but the boxer he was due to meet in Saturday's quarter-finals in Yarmouth, Canvey's John Martin, also pulled out with a broken hand.

So Liverpool light-welterweight Steve Williams - who lost to Khan in the North West finals but was reinstated following his withdrawal - has got a bye through to Friday's semi-finals in Preston.

Wigan's double ABA light-flyweight title winner Craig Lyon beat Home Counties champion James Fowl to go through.

Aamir Khan is the best youngest amateur boxer and no one amateur british boxer can beat him.
