Anthony Crolla is targeting a re-match with British super-featherweight champion Gary Sykes.
The 23-year-old from New Moston takes on Sid Razak on Saturday at Fit City, Salford, in what he hopes will be his final warm up before a face-off with the man who beat him on points last May.
Since then Crolla has put himself right back into title contention with impressive wins against Jon Baguley and his stunning knockout of Michael Brodie.
Crolla said: “I do believe I am due a title shot now and feel I should get a crack at Gary Sykes.
“Look at all the people above me or around me in the rankings, they have all had their shot now and I feel it’s my time to be in the spotlight.
“Sky TV are after evenly-matched, exciting title fights and a dust-up between the pair of us can’t fail to provide excitement. We both have great fans so whether we fight in Yorkshire or over in my neck of the woods it will be a great atmosphere and it can’t fail to be a cracking fight.”
Andy Morris lost out on points to Sykes when fighting for the vacant title in March - but Crolla is convinced he can overcome the Yorkeshireman, having turned his career around since their last meeting.
“I really believe that I am better prepared both mentally and physically for the rematch and I am really sure of getting a win," he said. "I am punching a lot harder now and the work I am doing with Joe Gallagher and Kerry Kayeshas improved me so much. I think I’d finish the job within the distance.”
Meanwhile, Danny Randall won his third successive fight on the undercard of David Haye's WBA title defence to John Ruiz - defeating Daniel Thorpe on points at the MEN Arena.

What about Crolla v Morris in a final eliminator?
Would be a great fight and get the Manchester fraternity buzzing.
well said Pat - Crolla-Morris would be more fitting in my opinion.
