When all the talk has been about UFC taking over as the No.1 contact sport, 2010 will prove how wrong those predictions were.
The two greatest fighters of their generation will give us a match to compare with the biggest and best in the history of the sport.
They've both taken on the best and beaten the best. They are the only ones who can challenge each other's claims to be the pound for pound number one.
And as outstanding as Pacquiao is, I see Mayweather having too much for him.
You could see in Pacquiao's fight with Miguel Cotto that he struggled to close the ring down and go in for the kill when he was on top.
I can see the Filipino being the one making the running and I think that could be his undoing with Mayweather just too fast for him.
I live by the rule that the one with the best defence wins, and Mayweather has the best defence out there. He also coped with Oscar de la Hoya's power so I think he can handle Pacquiao as well.
After that, nobody can accuse the Pretty Boy of dodging opponents. He will undoubtedly be the greatest.
Freddie Roach believes that will be a title owned by Amir Khan one day.
Amir was fantastic on Saturday and no-one within the sport thought he'd knock out Dmitriy Salita in 76 seconds. That was an incredible performance. But whether he will ever be pound for pound number one, I don't know.
Khan is an outstanding talent and deserves credit for what he's achieved this year. But until he goes in with someone who can hit him, we are not going to know how good he is. Tweet

Spot on Joe, word for word - another great piece.
John Murray, Joe. We all want to see that fight try and make it happen!
Good to see Joe back in his homeland on the weekend. The pearls of wisdom saw Macklin take another step closer towards a world title.
And where's his 'homeland' angry?
HoS, specifically County Sligo, Ireland. Dublin is close enough!
Yet another good article from Joe Gallagher, just like to add what a great result at the weekend from Matt Macklin (just goes to show what you can do with a top trainer on your side).Look forward to read next article.
Really Angry???
And here's me thinking he's a wythenshawe lad born and bred and schooled in the noble art with a Mancunian accent?
You're a bit insecure really aren't you mate to harp on about it all the time, a bit sad really.
hands, you seem to have an issue with anyone with Irish blood! whats the problem?
Joe was more than happy to profess his Irishness the other weekend when he was being interviewed - so if he doesnt have a problem with it why do you?
Angry - Your wrong mate, simply not true? My father was Scottish but I was born in England and I grew up with a lot of lads of irish descent. However what I do object to is silly comments from people who clearly do have some intelligence and should know better than to try and segregate opinion and cause divides by claiming that anyone who's been to Dublin shopping for the day is irish, when they are born and bred in Manchester. Why would you want to do that? Seems to me that you have an inferiority complex mate.
As for the English Manchester lads talking about how irish they are is nothing short of fulfilling market potential and naive people often lap it up - you are not the only one mate.
PS: What does it say on Tysons passport? What does it say on Joes passport? Exactly mate, so just drop it and stop being so silly hey. Cheers...
