It has been a golden year for boxing in this country - and Hatton wants to continue that success story when he takes on IBO welterweight champion, Lovemore N'Dou in Stoke.
And after seeing his hopes of Commonwealth glory smashed by Craig Watson 18 months ago, he is determined not to repeat the mistake against N'Dou.
That points defeat at the City of Manchester Stadium was the low point of Hatton's career - but he says it was also the springboard for a reversal of fortune that will see him emulate brother, Ricky, by becoming champion of the world.
"Some people said the pressure got to me fighting in front of such a big crowd in Manchester," he said. "But it certainly wasn't the pressure.
"I've boxed on big bills all over the world and it's never affected me. But my preparation wasn't right for that night.
"But I'm not looking back on that defeat. I've turned my career around and I'm twice the fighter I was. People who watched me before and after that scrap will know it was like watching two different fighters."
Hatton has collected impressive wins against Ted Bami and Ben Tackie since losing to Watson - but victory against N'Dou will complete his journey back from the brink.
"I have very high expectations," he said. "Sometimes maybe too much. In the past when I've not performed like I know I can, I've dwelled and it's got me down and affected my performances.
"I don't tend to do that now. I just enjoy my boxing, which I wasn't doing to a lot of years. As long as I do that each time I go in the ring I will be happy and I think that will be more than enough to beat Lovemore N'Dou."

I hope that the 'Mug Punters' who have paid £150 for a ticket to watch this terrible fight have a good night.

He is one dimensional, can only move in a straight line (rather than give angles) and is totally incapable of stepping the pace up a gear. He has no punch variety, no punch power and can't work on the inside so has to hold all the time. He has been given every opportunity in his career but is just incapable of giving a decent performance when required.
Basically he has zero talent for boxing and should retire and try and do something else with his life. I'm sure big brother Ricky will give him a job.
I'm certain the Sky TV camera's will not be showing anymore of his fights after his impotent performance against N'dou.
Matthew has been hanging onto his brothers coat-tails for the best part of 10 years, but enough is enough. Matthew should retire now as he has zero credibility as a boxer.
