IT'S more than four years since `Wythenshawe Warrior' Andy Morris boxed in front of a Manchester crowd.

"People think I have retired because I have not fought here for so long," says the former British featherweight champion.

"People on the boxing scene know I am still about - but Joe Public has forgotten me."

However, the 2002 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist gets his wish to step into a Manchester ring again on August 21 when he will meet former Spanish super featherweight title contender, Jesus Garcia Simon, on Ricky Hatton's promoted show at the Velodrome.

The 29-year-old shouldn't pose too many problems for Morris whose only blip on his record came against Scotsman John Simpson.

And he sees the contest as a stepping-stone to bigger and better things.

"It does not really matter to me who I fight," declares the former ABA title holder.

"I am a champion - I don't care who I fight. If you call yourself a champion you fight anyone at your weight and that's how it should be.

"I want two or three fights this year then to get back in the mix for a title early next year.

"I have got the talent, I am still young and I can cause a big upset out there again like I did at featherweight.

"There are still some good fights out there for me and I think I can smash anyone."

Morris, who defeated Yousef Al Hamidi last time out in March, is also looking towards Kevin Mitchell or Ricky Burns.
