Hatton, 30, is believed to be making an announcement on his boxing future next week after being brutally knocked out in two rounds by Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao last weekend.
Britain's most popular fighter was due home from Las Vegas this morning, but has extended his stay until Saturday to ponder his next career move.
If the former two-weight world champion had defeated `Pacman', he was already close to agreeing a homecoming fight against Katsidis. But the former World Boxing Organisation lightweight champion is still confident of getting the call up to be Hatton's last ring opponent, possibly at Manchester Evening News Arena.
Katsidis's manager and trainer Brendon Smith said: "I believe it's still a very good chance of happening.
"Knowing Ricky, I don't think he would want to finish his career like that.
"We are not concerned about going to Ricky Hatton's backyard because we've taken our show on the road for the last two years,"
Katsidis, 28, who is now based in Thailand, has lost just twice in 27 fights and on a previous trip to Britain stopped Luton's Graham Earl inside five rounds.
What should Ricky do? Have your say.

SHould he retire? Well I dont pay his bills and if anyone here fancies doing so then crack on. The choice is Ricky's - if he fights on it will only be for the money, he has reached as high as he is going to and anything from here on in would be a step back.
He has his promotional career to look forward to and I hope he does well in that.
