Edwards has not had his contract renewed despite leading the team to their most successful Olympics in 56 years in Beijing last summer and being awarded the MBE last month.
Edwards admits he is still "shocked" at the action by the British Amateur Boxing Association and fears the team will not achieve what he had targeted for them.
He said: "I was shocked and surprised at how quickly a decision of that importance could be made - I don't understand the logic.
"I have achieved more than any other British Olympic boxing coach, more than I could ever have imagined.
"Of course I would love to see British boxing achieve even better results in 2012 than we did in Beijing - but while I don't wish the team any ill, I have my doubts. They could struggle.
"If we could have continued the way we were going, Great Britain boxing could have been the new Cuba by 2012 but now I'm not so sure."
