STEFAN Gill will use his new status as the English Basketball League's top player to spur him to glory this weekend.
The Manchester Magic guard has been named as player of the season ahead of the Final Fours play-offs, which take place on his home court at the Amaechi Centre in Whalley Range.
The Moss Side-born guard has been Magic's key man this season as the team finished runners-up in Division One, the Cup and the Trophy.
Now he wants to land some silverware in the final event of the campaign.
"I've worked really hard for this award," said Gill. "And it is nice to see your hard work recognised.
"But the season is not finished yet and this is a great motivation for me and the team to go out and win something.
"Getting to finals is nice and some teams never get to experience it. We have come second three times this season so now we want to push on and win it.
"Its on our home floor so that's great lift too."
Gill, a 5ft 8ins sharp-shooter, impressed by averaging over 23.8 points per game for Magic.
Derby Trailblazers' Clarence Wiggins is the coach of year for helping his team to the title.
Bury Blue Devils' Melissa Hills was named Women's Division Two (North) player of the year, averaging 19.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
Both Gill and Hills saw an improvement in their averages for 2009/10.
