Pictures: Magical fun for kids

Taner Adu goes up against a young rival

MANCHESTER Magic aren't all about winning trophies.

First-teamer Taner Adu, a member of last season's treble-winning squad, knows that children are the future.

He was on hand to pass on his knowledge to the next generation of basketball talent at a regular Saturday morning kids session.

And along with Magic's coaches and volunteers, the club's players host an array of sessions at their base at the Amaechi Centre at Whalley Range High School and around the city.

Boys and girls in school years three-six can simply turn up at the Centre every Saturday at 10.30am with £1.50 to join in the fun.

"It is a great introduction to basketball," said Magic head coach Jeff Jones. "The kids love meeting the players and our coaches make it a fun learning experience. And the youngsters can come back to the Centre and see the players in action in the evening."

Magic also run sessions for women and girls, adults and older children as well as advanced groups.

Join in with Magic at the following sessions...

Women and girls - Sundays 9.30- 10.30am, £1.50

Back-to-sport adults - (Sundays 6-8pm, free)

School years 3-11 (Mondays 6.30-7.30pm)
