KRISTY Lavin said goodbye to the Amaechi Centre in the best possible way last night by helping Great Britain to a superb Eurobasket win over Bosnia.

The Manchester Mystics star, who is bound for the Spanish league, played her final game on her home-club court for her country - and was key to a 66-44 victory.

Lavin hit 17 points, joint top-scorer with Megan Moody, as Great Britain beat the group leaders to go joint top in their push for a place in Europe’s top division.

Georgia Jones of the Mystics recorded five assists and three points, while and Rochdale-born Lisa Hutchinson had six assists.

Meanwhile, Great Britain men’s coach Chris Finch has warned against complacency despite his team’s commanding position in their promotion play-off with Switzerland.

NBA ace Luol Deng led the scoring with 31 points as Britain whipped their rivals for a place in Europe’sA Division 74-41 in Sheffield on Tuesday.

The second leg is in Switzerland on Saturday and Great Britain are clear favourites.

Finch, though, was careful to keep his team focused, saying: “It is not over but we have got off to a great start. It is never over in basketball.

“We have very attacking and aggressive defence everywhere and it was contagious throughout the squad.”
