HAVING your colours done was once something reserved for bored housewives who wanted to overhaul their fashion style.

But now DIY fanatics can benefit from a colour makeover - with the help of interior design duo Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan.

The decorating double-act will be at Cheetham Hill's Big W Woolworth's store on Easter Bank Holiday Monday to host a colour consultation event, organised as part of the Crown Colour Week.

Shoppers will be able to obtain one-to-one decorating advice from Colin and Justin, or the specially trained Crown colour consultants, who will be visiting stores across the country between April 10 and May 29.

To make the most of the advice, you have to brave the disdain of the straight talking pair and should take along photographs of your room as it is now and swatches of any fabrics you need to keep.

And to help you explain the sort of look you would like to achieve take along pictures from magazines which have inspired you - much like taking a photo of Jennifer Aniston to your hairdresser.

Confidence

Colin and Justin say: "We want our consultations to get people painting with confidence and being bolder and brighter about the colours in their homes."

But if you will be eating your Easter eggs over the bank holiday weekend rather than picking up a paintbrush, then make sure you enter the é10,000 room makeover competition.

The prize includes a private home consultation, a three-day shopping trip for paint, furniture and fabrics, a decorating team and a project manager to oversee the whole thing.

Colin and Justin will be at Big W, Elizabeth Street Cheetham Hill on Monday April 17.
