DENTON badminton star Colin Haughton, the British No 1, is racing to shrug off a cold as he prepares to go for gold when the men's singles start at the Bolton Arena next Wednesday.

Haughton, 29, admits it has affected his preparation but insists he will be 100 per cent when he goes into action.

He told said: "I picked up a bit of a head cold so I've had to rest and only play a few shots in practice. I don't feel too bad and I'll be all right by Friday."
