I was invited to the Q&A by Kevin Lee. As an 18 year old student and relatively new member of the Labour Party, it was a fantastic opportunity. It was the first time I've seen Mr Blair live and up close, and I was very impressed by his performance. He was very much on his best form, he didn't make a single mistake, every response he made was detailed, direct, to the point, and very sincere. It's no surprise that this man has taken us to victory in three consecutive general elections.

I was at the event but never got the chance to ask my question.
My question to Tony Blair would have been: Are drugs illegal because they are dangerous, or dangerous because they are illegal?
Prohibition fuels gang warfare. Young men with 'no future' are attracted by the exorbitant profits of dealing.
I am not saying that no risk exists, but (in the same way as when abortion was criminal) driving something underground is bad for the body politic.
Permissiveness would stop drugs from being sub-cultural and create models of sensible use.
I like croissants but I hope that I can eat them responsibly!
All in all, it was a pleasure to see Labour in Manchster and I look forward to other events in the city in coming years.
