MANCHESTER United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is to be joined in sport's corridors of power - by his high-flying son.
Jason Ferguson is on a new list of Britain's 100 most powerful men - all under 40 - who form an impressive line-up of the most influential young males in the country.
The list, compiled by trendy men's magazine Esquire, includes a string of young guns from the north west who wield power in the world of sport, music and showbiz.
Ten men in categories such as sport, the arts, business, politics, and science were chosen for the original list, from which an overall winner will be picked by readers.
Famous names from the north west include two comedians - Bolton-born Phoenix Nights star Peter Kay, 30, and film and TV funnyman Steve Coogan, 38, from Middleton.
Influence
Manchester singing star Robbie Williams, 30, and ex-Manchester United star David Beckham, 28, are also on the list.
The sport list, which includes Thierry Henry, Tim Henman, Roman Abramovich and Jonny Wilkinson, also has surprises, like 31-year-old Jason Ferguson.
He is in there because of his increasing influence as a sports management star behind big transfer deals.
Esquire said it wanted to showcase the talents of a generation of young men responsible for so much of what goes on in Britain.
"Lists of the rich and powerful invariably make for a stolid, predictable read," said a spokesman, "comprising wizened entrepreneurs, politicians and establishment figures whose wealth has largely been inherited.
"Our inaugural survey has a more extensive and incisive remit, seeking out the young men who are challenging the established order,by dictating the political agenda, building new industries, and pioneering scientific change."

You do not mention in the local Songwriter Chris Braide
who appears in the 100 most influential men. He is a local boy growing up in Warrington and attended Woolston High School before signing straight from school to Zomba Music in London as a Songwriter. He has since carved out for himself a successful career in music publishing as well as songwriting. If you check the article he has had six No. 1 Hits both here and in America. Give him a bit of space.
