THE woman trying to convince the public of the benefits of speed cameras was bombarded with questions when she appeared in a live internet "chat" organised by the Manchester Evening News.
Emma Reynolds is communications chief at the new Greater Manchester Safety Camera Partnership with a brief to help road users appreciate the need for less speed.
Her appearance in our "chatroom" prompted a massive response from people who were able to have their questions about speed cameras answered immediately.
The session was so popular that the chatroom was over-subscribed and a second session has been organised for next Monday so Ms Reynolds can answer more of your questions.
Successful
Motorists were able to raise concerns about speed camera policies adopted by the organisation.
It was the most successful computer "chat" session ever.
One computer user, who gave his name as "John", reflected the fears of many readers when he asked: "Aren't the cameras just a money making scheme?"
Ms Reynolds replied: "The only people that pay are the people that break the speed limits. We all have to pay for the education of people who drink and drive but with this initiative only the ones who speed pay."
Ms Reynolds said: "This is something people feel strongly about so it is nice to answer questions directly and correct certain things."
The next speed camera chat session had been arranged for Monday, December 22 at 1pm.
Do we need more speed cameras on our roads?
