SINGER Vince Hughes makes his bid for TV stardom tonight as sixties rocker Dion.

The former teenage editorial assistant at the Manchester Evening News belts out the New Yorker's million-seller Runaround Sue in the live grand final of Stars In Their Eyes.

Vince, from Denton, works as a mobile DJ and is a big fan of vintage sixties pop. He said: ''I do weddings and parties, but this is the big time.''

Also in the final is 18-year-old Congleton student Matthew Shaw, who appears as Meatloaf and Jeff Greenhalgh, from Leigh, who performs The Beatles' Eleanor Rigby singing as Paul McCartney.
