Boar still on run after escape

A RUNAWAY boar determined to save her bacon is enjoying life on the wild side in Cheshire.

The hog has been free since she escaped from an abattoir near Knutsford two months ago.

The animal was just minutes away from death when she ran for it.

There have been numerous sightings of the boar including several at the nearby Heyrose Golf Club, more in farmers' fields, and even one at the local Cuckoo Land Museum.

Abattoir staff have hunted for her regularly, but one said: "It's a bit like the Scarlet Pimpernel. We seek her here, we seek her there. The trouble is she's always somewhere different."

The animal's owner, Elaine Parsonage said: "People imagine that she's rather ungainly, but in fact unlike a pig she has long legs and is quite lean. It's unbelievable how quickly she can move."

It is believed that the boar has gone to ground in nearby woods where she can easily hide.
