THOUSANDS of revellers braved the blizzards in Manchester city centre last weekend for the Irish Parade, a riotous festival of colour and song for St Patrick's Day. And other parts of the world also turned a distinct shade of green... FLAKEY DAY: Crowds gathered at the roadside to watch the Parade. GUESTS: Lord Mayor Afzal Khan was among the throng. ANIMAL MAGIC: Even pets braved the weather to celebrate. TEAMWORK: Clubs and groups from across the city took part. CHARACTERS: Masks and costumes made the day. LAUGH ALONG: Smiling children join the pipers on the march. MUSIC MEN: The sounds of traditional music heralded the Parade. FLOAT FUN: County Fermanagh got a plug on one float. COVER UP: Brollies were the order of the day for many onlookers. YOUTH: This dance school member brought an Irish jig to the day. DOG'S LIFE: This dyed-green pooch didn't want to miss out on the fun. HELLO THERE: An Eccles Catholic club came along for the ride. YOUNG AND OLD: Mixed generations stood together to greet the walkers. SPECS APPEAL: No need for sunglasses - but these lads can be forgiven. BEARD: This leprachaun was unlucky in finding the end of the rainbow. FESTIVITIES: The party continued at the Town Hall steps. FLAG MAN: Irish banners and flags went like hot cakes - on a very cold day. MEANWHILE....In London, a riot of colour broke out for their St Pat's preperations. STATESIDE....in Denver, Colorado the local Irish community riverdanced for joy. FINALLY: This little mascot led the Irish parade in Pennsylvania, USA - a truly global event.
