A COMPUTER chain is aiming to build the world's most eco-friendly PC.
The energy efficient machine will be made from recycled and recyclable materials where possible.
PC World will also pay for tree planting and other conservation projects to offset the impact of carbon emissions generated during manufacturing. The new `carbon neutral' PC will be made in Europe and could go on sale by autumn.
PC World commercial director Bryan Magrath said: "We're harnessing the very latest technology and the expertise of cutting edge component developers to create the first `PC' PC."
The firm said efficient components with low energy consumption would be used in the new computer.
WOULD you choose a 'green' PC over a normal one? Have your say.

With a really useful metering plug occasionally on sale at Lidl, I established that my old laptop IBM 540Z only draws 27 watts, while a newer one draws 3 times as much at 75 watts and the desk top about 200 watts, interestingly mainly from the box itself.
Each mains power supply (printer/modem/scanner/mobile charger etc) each draws about 5-15 watts - not insignificant especially when many are left on 24/7.
