Girl who has broken her Asbo 10 times

A BINGE-drinking teenager has been given a final chance to mend her ways after she was caught breaking the terms of her Anti-Social Behaviour Order for the 10th time.

Samantha Taylor - who admits to drinking half a bottle of vodka and 12 cans of strong lager in an 'average' session - is barred from the centre of Macclesfield after a string of drunken incidents on the streets of the town and has five convictions for assaulting police who tried to detain her.

Now the 18-year-old has been told she has just one more chance to reform her character - both by the courts and her own mum.

As she appeared in court for her latest offences, she was spared jail and given a six-month sentence at a young offenders' institution, which was suspended for 12 months.

But Taylor was told she will be jailed if she breaches the terms of her Asbo again.

At Macclesfield Magistrates' Court, District Judge Bridget Knight said Taylor's mother was willing to also give her one final chance.

Paula Taylor, 41, a community carer with four other children, said Samantha first got into trouble with police when she was 15. This came after the breakdown of Miss Taylor's relationship with the man Samantha thought of as her father.

'Escapes'

The teenager has been in and out of youth offenders' institutions and Styal Prison. Miss Taylor said: "I've tried everything, including locking her in the house, to stop her but she just escapes and carries on."

Taylor, of Merebrook Road, Macclesfield, who admitted breaching her Asbo, also pleaded guilty to resisting a constable in the execution of his duty.

Ruth Choyce, defending, said: "Samantha is more disappointed than anyone else that her behaviour has not improved. It is when she is drunk that her behaviour deteriorates and essential work with her education and employment needs to be undertaken. No real work has been done with her to address her binge-drinking either."

Taylor was made the subject of a one-year supervision order, including an Asro (Addressing Substance Related Offending) programme. She was also tagged and given a 7am-7pm curfew.

After the hearing, Taylor claimed to the M.E.N. that she was being picked on by the police and was more concerned with causing upset to her mother than the threat of jail.

Her mum said: "She's a clever girl but this is ruining her life. She wants to work with animals and now she's on probation hopefully she'll be able to do that. I will continue to support her as much as I can."

Miss Taylor has lodged three complaints with the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

What is the point of an ASBO if it can be broken 10 times ? If it's broken once, then it's time to lock them up ! Oh, I forgot, there is no room in prison now is there ?

This brat want s to work with animals. I don';t think so. She is one herself !

"half a bottle of vodka and 12 cans of strong lager in an 'average' session "

I'm over 6ft and thought i could drink a few !!
Barring her from Macc' will just transfer the problem to another area, it's soft treatment like this which shows the kids of today they can do what they please with little or no punishment, send her to a youth offenders institution for a few months, that might wake her up a bit.

Broken her ASBO ten times and they have not punished her accordingly? No wonder she keeps on breaking it as it does not appear to be a deterrant at all. She is more upset than anyone that she has not changed her behaviour? She is the one who change her ways not anyone else. What a chav, and these are the adults of tomorrow. I despair.

Two fingers come to mind? this is what these kids are doing giving us all the two fingered salute? its time for sharp shocks ,(the birch) And watch them stop drinking and miss behaving. Since we stopped controlling kids in school ect (thanks to the looney liberals) our society has broken down.

I think it soft to have given her a last chance;I would have jailed her for 5 years and made the parent compulsorily attend parenting classes with a prison sentence for non-attendance!

10 times, do me a favour.

She shouldnt be given the opportunity to break her ASBO 10 times, she should have been punished first time!

This comment says it all really, if her defence can come up with this load of rubbish. 'Ruth Choyce, defending, said: "Samantha is more disappointed than anyone else that her behaviour has not improved. It is when she is drunk that her behaviour deteriorates and essential work with her education and employment needs to be undertaken'
Oh come. She had her chance at Education and obviously blew it. Stop drinking if thats what it does to you. Who in the right mind will employ her? I wouldnt thats for sure. If she's broken her ASBO 10 times then obviously it isnt a deterrent is it? Lock her up for the safety of all of us including the police officers she has assaulted.

Her solicitor says the girl is disappointed in her behaviour.
o why does she not do something about it.
I guess I am paying for her solicitor on legal aid to keep this little thug on the streets.
Nice to see she manages to take time out to shop for her uniform, baseball cap, hoodie etc.
Just lock her and others like her away in some place away from civilised human beings so they can rot in their own self induced hell.

One time is one time too many, 10 times?!?!? Clearly ASBO is not working at all, time to build more jails.

She's 18. She's legally an adult. Why isn't she in prison?

Clearly the ASBO is an AWOT (Absolute waste of time) and WNWIAMOS (Would not work in a month of Sundays so we might as well FAI(Forget About It). Or better still forget the silly titles and actually do something for a change. I know its radical but how about putting her in prison if nothing else she can learn to do without alchohol during her sentence.

The jails are full - thanks to our forward-thinking government. So some other form of severe punishment must be considered - NOT an ASBO.

Where does she get the cash from for all this binge drinking? Take it off her for a start.

I think it is a disgrace. She wants to work with animals but she IS an animal!! These people should be locked up or fined - at least something should be done, at the moment they have nothing to make them think twice about committing crimes. And then the rest of us who work hard, pay taxes and stay on the right side of the law are paying for it! Deserve another chance? No mate, sorry you've blown it.

You're all mad. Birching? Boot camps? Yes of course, prison works that's why we have massive re-offending rates, the highest prison population in Europe, stupidly expensive penal system etc.

How about addressing the causes rather than the symptoms?

Right, that's it, the gloves are off now. Another 4 ASBO's from you young lady, and it's a Safari trip! That'll teach you.

Convicted criminals can work whilst serving their time. So if she wants to work with animals lock her up and I'm sure the company she will find herself in will fulfill her wishes.
