Businesses have increased in value by thousands of pounds overnight after the shock announcement that a é260m complex would be built in Eastlands.
Estate agent Naz Jilani, who runs Property Point close to Sportcity, moved into a new shop and offices just two weeks ago.
He bought the property for about é100,000 but said the price will have rocketed.
Mr Jilani, 26, said: "You're looking at at least 10 per cent within 24 hours." But despite the unexpected announcement and the expected boom he has no intention of leaving in the near future.
He said: "Anyone who wants to go now would be stupid.
"The prices have gone up already and the casino is only information. When it's physically here imagine what will happen. There is no question - people should stay and reap the rewards."
On Ashton New Road, Mohammed Khan, 41, is the owner of Mobile and Computer World Communications Ltd. He rents the premises but admits that he would be very keen on buying it after the announcement.
He said: "This place has three flats upstairs so I would say yesterday it was worth about é220,000 and now - who knows?
"People will look at businesses around here, realise there will be a big increase in passing trade and recognise an opportunity to make money."
While appreciating the new opportunities the supercasino will bring, other retailers had different plans.
A few doors down is Nat's Off-Licence.
Owner Nat Mistry, 49, has been on the premises for 26 years and says he is ready to move if the price is right.
He said: "I've been here a long time now and these are the most exciting times we have had. In fact, the casino will be the best thing that has ever happened to businesses around here.
Trade
"It will increase trade, bring in new people, extra jobs and there will be lots of opportunities - but if someone was to come in with a big offer for my store I would take them up on it - I've been here a long time."
And Julie Dobie, 58, who owns the Barmy Cake sandwich shop with husband Duncan, agreed.
She said: "We were gobsmacked when we heard the casino was coming here and not Blackpool. We've been here for a while, too, and if someone came in with a good offer we'd be off."

I don't know about property values, but I don't think casino gamblers will be looking to buy a pie, a sandwich or a bottle of milk. Granted, the builders may, but they won't be there for ever.
How many lives will be ruined by this fiasco/. Hugh debt for people. Another disaster from that deluded Blair fool.
Somebody asked 'where will the craps games be played?' . I suspect it will be next door at the BOO CAMP !
Make hay while the sun shines.....
Abit of Afresco dinning in those street pictured. Something to make you feel proud of Manchester. Some good old ENGLISH`food from the locals, will work a treat .
It's abit like The Simpson's with the episode about the Monorail
Bernie, never mind Boo Camp. I remember you singing derogatory songs about Cantona when he was at Leeds. Soon changed your tune eh?
It's not just a casino - there are going to be other amenities like a venue for concerts, hotel, restaurants. All good for the area surely?
bernie winters, altrincham
explain yourself.
All good news with this casino isnt it? All good. No bad.
Why is it when us reds have a bit of fun the Bertie's get all upset . Boo Camp refers to the way the most 'loyal supporters' in the land frequently boo their own team !! Or more recently turn up dressed as empty seats . You saddo !!
The Simpsons? Is that the one where they all work at the nuclear reactor? There's 25 of them going up on the coastline near you Oz. I think Smily told you about that. Perth - its the backside of the outback!
aren't they counting their chickens a bit here? according to the local news last night its still possible that it won't come to Manchester.
Louise, Ashton there are three main reasons why it will come to manchester for sure?
1 a greedy labour council
2 a greedier labour government
3 They dont care how many people suffer as long as it makes more money for the government.
Along with the Casino's, always follow the Pawn shops.
Lucky for some!!
Come on Ozblue, the photo surely reminds you of a happy childhood living above the Tai Loy in Northenden. What would your mother make of these anti-Manchester sentiments?
Smiley. She is very proud of me and my 4bedroom, 2bathroom, double garage, swimming pool on a acre of land (4000sqm). thanks for asking.
You are to be applauded. Sounds like you're riding the crest of a Wythenshawe-Northenden-Yanchep, rags to riches dream! You're living it, and it explains your overall inner happiness and positive self-esteem. (You neglect to mention your laptop or swimming pool though - don't hide your light under a bushel next time, as undue modesty will not benefit you). It didn't answer my question though, Ged.
read it again smiley it says swiming pool. I did'nt mention the house is a bungalow though or my daughter has her own pony. I don't like to brag. It's nothing special you see over here to have these things it's reachable by most people. That's what i have been trying to tell you but you just don't get it.
It is to your credit! Shall I send you an email - still on iinet.net.au?
i don't have time to read emails just MEN
Bernie, if us 'Berties' frequently boo our own team, when did we last boo them? Behave yourself - you're referring to a couple of over-publicised occasions a couple of seasons ago, so do us a favour and change the record. After all, you red-noses have been known to boo your superstars on the odd occasion. I suspect you're just jealous because we'll have this supa-dupa casino on our doorstep, whereas you only have White City Retail Park. Never mind - you reds are all welcome to come and spend your travellers cheques down at Las Beswick-Vegas.
I'll give you a ring instead.
Manchester is a great city. Any true man city fan would agree.
Manchester is a fantastic city and has far more going for it than many Australian areas.
