Instead of selling his sporty VW Golf GTi, Wayne Parker found himself é99.50 out of pocket after paying a company to sell it for him.
Wayne, 39, from Denton, was contacted by telephone by Vehicle Connect after he had advertised the Golf in a reputable car magazine. The company, based in Essex, assured him they would sell his vehicle in seven days. Two weeks later, he had not had a single enquiry.
Wayne, a vehicle paint-stripper, said: "I feel I have been conned. Vehicle Connect told me they had a number of potential buyers.
"I was told that if I paid the fee - which they said was insurance in case the car wasn't everything I said it was - they would put these people in touch. When I had heard nothing after a few days, I contacted them and they reassured me it was probably because it was Christmas.
"I then got a written contract in the post, containing the terms that had supposedly been explained to me.
"In fact, they were different, and it was clear that the company was just advertising my car on its own internet website.
"I called them again and was told there was no question of a refund."
The M.E.N. was unable to contact Vehicle Connect. Tweet

I sold a bike a few months ago, and I too got a call from a company claiming they had potential buyers for my bike. But luckily I wasn't that gullible to take up there 'offer'
If someone wants money for selling something for you then I'm sorry you deserve to get fleeced.
is the car green in colour also
I also have my car on the market at the moment and have been contacted a number of times by this compay telling me they have buyers for my car etc and then asking for money. I made a joke telling them that I had seen them on Watchdog and was then told yeah you will of done we have been on there 3 times now!!! Says it all dont it!!!
Don't trust anyone! At this time of year lots of readers will be thinking of a new kitchen, bathroom, bedroom etc. Have a look at my site www.kitchenhell.co.uk to see what can happen if you trust adverts, salesmen etc
When will people learn not to pay out money on the strength of promises by these conmen. I had a similar offer for private plates and told them where to go for their money and it wasn't the bank.
I think you are all being a bit mean about this young man, alright he made a mistake, but you all seem to be a load of know-alls.
Well this is a good way of advertising his car wouldn't you say? He's certainly getting his money's worth, even the MUEN are glossing up his 'sporty' Golf to us readers.
Hope he sells it though, those Golf's are nice cars - I have one ;)
