England's Homeless World Cup squad are travelling to Ashton under Lyne tomorrow to take on the All Stars - featuring TV soap stars and a former international.
The team have just returned from South Africa, where 48 nations took part in the fourth Homeless World Cup - with the aim of kicking out global poverty. They will now pitch their skills against a team made up of Coronation Street's Ryan Thomas, Richard Fleeshman, Andy Whyment and Alan Halsall; Hollyoaks actors Nick Pickard, Matt Milburn and Jamie Lomas; and ex-Manchester City star Asa Hartford.
The match, organised by New Charter Housing Trust and Big Issue in the North, is being staged to raise funds for local homelesss charities.
The game is open to the public and kick-off is 1pm at Curzon Ashton's Richmond Street ground. Both teams should be on their best behaviour as the M.E.N's sports editor, Peter Spencer - a qualified referee - will be in charge of the game.
Tony Powell, of New Charter, said: "We are extremely grateful to the celebrities who are giving up their own free time to take part in this match.
"We are determined to deliver awareness and greater education of the plight of the homeless in our region and this is one way of doing that."
