THE next generation of David Beckhams have their bible to follow, after their idol launched his own skills guide.
Becks was at his David Beckham Soccer Academy in Greenwich, London, to launch Making It Real - My Soccer Skills Book.
Posing for pictures alongside 10 competition winners, all wearing the Academy's blue strip, Beckham looked barely older than a 14-year-old schoolboy next to him.
That boy, Alfie Doherty, from St Columba School in Bexleyheath, only found out he would be meeting the famous footballer on the morning of the launch, when his mum won him a place in a radio competition.
'Crazy'
His mother, Joanne Nallet, said: "It was just crazy. We were so excited. Both my children come to the Academy on Monday evenings, and it is every child's dream to meet their hero in person."
Mrs Nallet added that she was impressed with what Beckham was giving back to the sport that made him famous. She said: "I think it's great. It is so good for the sport and for the community."
Beckham gave the competition winners a penalty workshop - but slotted in only two out of three of his efforts.
His book charts his years at Real Madrid and Manchester United, and lifts the lid on his experiences as England captain, from which he spectacularly resigned earlier this year following the team's un- successful World Cup campaign.
