THE strongest arms in the world have been battling it out at the
Trafford Centre.
More than 150 of the world's best arm wrestlers faced each other as part of Arm Wars IX.
Competitors, male and female, fought it out in 22 individual weight categories, including both left and right arm bouts, on specially constructed tables in the Orient dining hall.
The event, organised by the
World Arm Wrestling Federation, has been held at the centre five times.
Warm-up
Team Great Britain boasted the likes of former world middleweight champion - and co-organiser - Neil Pickup, superheavyweight British champion Alan Greaves, former world bantamweight champion Steve Rogers and reigning Arm Wars champion Andy Barker.
The tournament was a warm-up to the federation's world championship competition, which will be held at the Trafford Centre for the first time in November.
Neil, from Blackburn, said: "This year we attracted even more competitors from European countries and further afield and it was an exciting and highly-charged event. We are constantly looking to develop this tournament into one of the largest competitions in the world."
