THE M.E.N. sent reporter Roland Hancock to experience the commute from Manchester to Bolton. This is what he found:
The news that the 17.15 from Manchester Piccadilly to Bolton had been cancelled was the last thing jaded commuters wanted to hear at the end of a hard working day.
But this band of travellers knew exactly what it meant - double the crush to get on, double the crowds on the next train.
Just after 5.30pm they all piled wearily into the nearest available carriage, but already there was nowhere to sit.
At each stop along the way, yet more people tried to push on, crushing everybody else into a slightly smaller space, the air by now heavy and sticky.
Nayla Akhtar, 28, from Blackburn, said: "This is nothing, last Friday we pulled into Bolton and four lads walked out of the train's toilet because there had been more room in there than anywhere else."
HAVE you experienced 'crush loaded' trains in Manchester? Have your say.
