'Barbaric' attack kills dog

A DOG was stabbed, beaten and had a beer bottle rammed down its throat in what the RSPCA is describing as "a barbaric act of cruelty".

The mutilated corpse of the one-year-old Yorkshire Terrier was discovered near waste ground in Miles Platting, Manchester.

It had been stabbed twice and beaten so severely that skin had been stripped from its head.

RSPCA Inspector Vicki McDonald was asked by police to collect the body from a pavement near the waste ground that runs between Coleshill Street and Iron Street at 8.45am on Saturday.

She said: "Without doubt, this is the most disgusting act of animal cruelty that I've seen in the four years that I've been working as an RSPCA officer.

'Whimpering'

"The bottle was plunged into its throat with such force that its mouth was ripped apart and part of its jaw was found at the side of the corpse.

"Whoever attacked it must have been covered in blood and there must have been some considerable noise, perhaps shouting, barking or whimpering."

Insp McDonald found two metal poles, one with fur sticking to it, beside the body of the dog. She believes that it was a sustained attack that would have taken several minutes and is appealing for witnesses.

She said: "It is still unknown who attacked the dog. It is not known if it had strayed or been stolen and was then attacked by a stranger.

"This is an extremely serious offence and potentially carries a custodial sentence."

What kind of deranged scum do we have in our society?
It made me cry to read of such mindless cruelty. If they catch the vermin who did this I hope they get a severe sentance. Who knows they may be capable of the same attack on a human.
Animal cruelty is not dealt with seriously enough!

I feel sick to the core at this story. Day after day the news headlines on this website continue to shock and horrify me. Get this person or persons, name them, jail them for 10 years, and have them eat dog sh*t from the streets of Manchester for the next 25 years.

Put the effort into finding these barbaric monsters, otherwise it gives a clear message to the community that this behaviour will be tolerated because its 'just an animal'. Surely fingerprints can be lifted from the metal bars found beside the dog.
Hanging is too good for who ever did this!!

That makes me sick. I have a Yorkie and anyone forcing such a brutal attack on him would break my heart. How can people be so cruel? I don't undertsand it. I hope these people are caught and sent to prison. If they can do that to a defenseless tiny animal they are capable of much worse.

I saw the horrifying picture of the yorkshire terrier in the papers this morning- I don't want to believe that there are people out there that can do this sort of thing to a defenceless creature. Dogs are so loving and trusting towards people- I wanted to be sick and cry at the same time when I read this story. The people who did this are obviously capable of applying the same casual violence to their spouses, friends and children. Something must be wrong with their brains and emotions- whoever butchered this Yorkie is abnormal. We don't want people like this in our society.

Who ever did this obviously must have felt threatened by the dogs superior brain capacity !!!!. Custodial sentencing means nothing to these types of scum anymore & therefore, these sort of freaks once caught, should be flogged !!.

I saw the body of this poor little dog whilst on the bus on the way into the city centre on Saturday. Just assumed it had been run over - what an evil, sick society we live in.

This is an absolute disgrace. It's heartbreaking to think what that poor dog went through before it finally died. I hope someone catches this freak before they turn on a human. If they can do this to a helpless dog...makes me shudder.

This article is devastating - that poor little dog!

I had a yorkie for 13 years when I was a child and was absolutely heartbroken when he died of natural causes - to think human beings could do this is just sick, wicked and evil.

I hope those people responsible are caught and punished - the problem is that even then they won't suffer like that poor little dog did!

dish out the same treatment to the perpetrators of this ghastly cruel act. If you need a volunteer to do it, let me know, I'll be first in the queue. Someone will grass up those responsible and then lets see what happens. Animal rights people will have a great time!

Some people are just evil. I doubt the scum who did this feel any remorse, in fact they probably bragged about it. They are beyond hope and I don't see why the rest of us such suffer their continued existence on this earth. No amount of prison or so-called rehabilitation will have any effect, they'll just get worse, so why not hang them.

I am disgusted and sickened to the core at this vile attack on a poor defenceless animal, I hope the police can trace the SCUM that did this and issue a harsh sentence, mine would be put them one by one in a cage with a bunch of hungry Rottweilers and see how they fair! They are Evil Cowards!

I am sick and tired of the liberal people we have in our government and councils who constantly stick up for these scum by voting against corporal punishment and capital punishment in britain we will never stop these horrible cruel acts against animals and people while we have no control over our people and kids in britain ,I am sick to my back teeth with reading how they are defended when caught .they are given mental help ?these people need removing from the face of the earth .our society is out of control In briatin we have ANARCHY im affraid.
The people who do this to innocent animals do not have human feelings .

What a terrible cruel story, hope you find these thugs, of recent i read a report about serial killers backgrounds, and the magority started of doing this kind of crime to defensless animals as youngster, and lets say furthered ther taste for this by becoming serial killers to humans, at such a high increase in animal cruelty, it makes you afraid for the future.

I've read the other comment and agree that it was a sick attack, but if (not when) these "people" are caught we'll find they only get a fine. There will be some reason "they wet the bed when they were younger, they are under 10, they were high on drugs/drink etc" that they will be given a wagging finger, a A#10 fine to be paid at a 1p a year and sent on thier way.
That's England in 2006.

The blood lusting, blood thirsty, vile people (ghouls) that committed the atrocious murder on the dog are not fit to be in existence. They are not in any way up to standard as being called a human being, they are not. They are not to be trusted with anybody, anything living or dead.
