Ex-Corrie star outed as No Deal banker

THE mysterious banker on Noel Edmonds' Channel 4 show Deal Or No Deal has been revealed today as a former Coronation Street actor.

Glenn Hugill, who played policeman Alan McKenna in the soap, is the hidden voice on the end of the phone, according to the Daily Mirror.

Viewers can neither see nor hear him as he offers contestants cash to quit the game.

Programme bosses have refused to reveal his identity.

But an insider told the Mirror: "Glenn makes his deals with help from two other executives. A computer works out what to offer but he makes the final decision.

'Agonise'

"It's a vital role - he makes the contestants agonise over decisions, and that's what makes it so popular."

Channel 4 said: "The identity will never be revealed."

And a quote from the banker himself said: "This is the first offer to reveal my identity and the answer is - no deal."

Hugill, 41, appeared in Coronation Street in 1996/97 as the policeman boyfriend of hairdresser Fiona Middleton, played by Angela Griffin.

The Darlington-born actor and presenter is credited as a series producer on Deal Or No Deal.

He hosted Five reality show The Mole and is a producer of Channel 4's Beauty And The Geek.

Why would they hire an actor to do the job when none of the studio audience, tv audience or contestants ever see him or speak to him?

Sounds to me like they're just trying to build up hype in time for their Easter Monday show.

This can't be true - DOND would never reveal the identity of the banker. But we can all make an educated guess - have you noticed that David Blunkett has gone very quiet recently ..... ?

I don't care who the banker is on DOND! It is the best new show on TV since Millionaire. I hate Sundays because it's not on.

Well, in a way, I really hope it isn't him because not knowing who the banker is makes the show even more interesting. Plus, if he attended that wedding of that contestent, he would have been recognised surely... HMM!!

But what does the banker do, the offers he makes are pretty much always predictable from the board... so much that I can usually do it myself. There is no skill involved in this game whatsoever, so what IS the interest

Why are all these people asking why would they bother with an Actor to play the part of the Banker? If they read the story properly, they would know that Glen is one of the Producer's on the show!

ure all loosers do u belive that the papers say is true??? i have worked in the sun story editing department and we make up about 75 percent of the stories hahahaha
