But she never thought that fulfilling a childhood dream would win her prizes.
Her dedication and hard work have impressed Greater Manchester Police so much that she has been named Community Police Officer of the Year 2002.
In November she will attend an award ceremony at the Merchant Taylor's Hall in London, where she will compete against police officers from across the UK to win the national title.
Pc Bromilow, of Chorley, is a youth development officer in Wigan, where she keeps young people off the streets and out of trouble by involving them in community projects, workshops and courses.
She said: "I love helping people and being part of a community.
